Will my eyes look normal after I have glaucoma surgery?

I'm 16 years old, and I am severely nearsighted. I also have severe glaucoma. November 3rd, I go to an eye institute. If I have to have surgery to stop my glaucoma from furthering, will my eyes look normal afterwards? How long would it be until my eyes recover from surgery?
