Eclipse AVN62D is ESN Locked?

My dad purchased an Eclipse AVN62D back in 2008 and used it for an install for about 6 months. After a while he took it out and switched to a Pioneer set up. I found the unit in a box in the garage about 2 weeks ago and I was preparing to use it for a set up I am working on right now. The only problem is when I hooked everything up the damn thing was ESN locked. I called Eclipse and asked what needs to happen and they said I either need to show Proof of Purchase or give all the information from the original registration. I have neither is there any other way I can unlock this thing or am I S*** out of luck.
